Well, some people like Marcelo, are asking me to continue to support the iPod linux. The innovations are really scarce in the universe linux for iPods. Yesterday I was browsing the forum ipodlinux.org and saw a post about a distro that I was curious to know. It's called ZeroSlackr.

The installation on my iPod 5g was perfect! After I test on my nano. To get an idea, I did not need or make a restore on the iPod. Indeed, until the mod's iPod touch skin still installed!

The only problem is that is still in testing phase, ie, there are bugs. Nevertheless, I found a great OS. I managed to run various emulators (which comes pre-installed) as the NES, Game Gear, Game Boy emulators ... Besides, you can select various distros like podzilla, podzilla2, floyd2illA, etc.. The Loader2 is also installed as standard.

The MPD is still being implemented, but it may work if you follow the guidelines of the author:

Note for MPD:
The current Implementation of MPD is still quite work-in-progress. There are many issues addressing Need, But here are some of Them and fixing instructions:
- MPD is disabled by default and Needs to Be toggled on, then rebooted ZeroLauncher for MPD to Work
- Music files for MPD Must Be copied to the new "Music" folder in the root of your iPod to be loaded by MPD, MPD Will freeze at startup if the "/ mnt / Music" folder is missing
- If instead you want to load music from your iTunes library, open the "ZeroSlackr / MPD / Conf / mpd.conf" file with a text editor and change "/ mnt / Music" to "/ mnt / iPod_Control. - If You Have a large music database, MPD Will Seem to "freeze" ZeroLauncher During Initiation; MPD That note is just building ITS database in the background and ZeroLauncher Actually is not frozen
- If you find yourself in the case of Being Unable to disable MPD, delete the "startup.conf" and / or "pz2modu.conf" files in "ZeroSlackr / MPD / Conf"
- Due to memory issues, with MPD enabled You Will Be Unable to launch most applications. Thus It Is Either "listen to music" or "launch applications"
- If you are using Podzilla2-Mod, However, May you chose to use MPD with Podzilla2-Mod and Thus Also Be Able to Use Modules in the meanwhile (but this May Cause skippy playback)
- If MPD is disabled, you'll keep getting That annoying "Unable to connect to MPD" error; That I will fix later
- See The Following thread for more info May Have I forgotten to mention:

Other bugs that are being worked on at the moment:

Known Issues:
iDarcNES:
- Starting volume due to incompatibility problems with the patch iBoy
- You Can avoid this by first starting up iBoy or by changing the volume via menu iDarcNES
- Recompile with Will Fix When Have Time
Podzilla2-Mod:
- Incompatibility with Numerous modules compiled before A Certain SVN revision date (or possibly TTK issue)
- Will the mass of the module and recompiling release
igpSP:
- Memory issues and tiny nano menu
- Make bigger menu, can not fix memory issue; /
And more miscellaneous issues from originals.

Also note That for some packs, you get your own rom files
for Them to Work. That includes the "gba_bios.bin" is
Various igpSP and the rom files for iPodMAME. Do NOT ask
Where to find Them; to clean the dump yourself!

ZeroSlackr issues:
- MPD issues (see note below)
- Contrast level for 3G (and possibly before that) on
PZ2-based zillae is too low, delete the. Conf files
in the "Conf" folders to reset the contrast to the
default level
- Zillae group names are messed up (easy fix)
- ILaunch applications will not work (most of them)
- IPodMAME doesn't Have any rom-file-existance-checks
(Will Implement later)
- Wikipodia does not work. Seems it at all.
(Can you install it yourself manually But There Will Be scheme issues)

Original app issues:
- Consecutive Different applications launching of Will
require a reboot due to Lack of memory (see IPL bug-tracker)
- MPD issues (see note below)
- PZ0 based zillae (ie. Podzilla0-Lite, Floyd2illa,
ViPodzilla, with the exception of ZacZilla) to not work on iPod videos
- IgpSP Requires a reboot upon exiting
- IDarcNES starting volume is extremely loud (please take care of your ears)
- Terminal module Has issues (see IPL bug-tracker)

IgpSP to run, you must download gba_bios.bin. I can not post links to download this file, but google can help you. Remember also that the menu of emulators are usually accessed by turning the "hold" and the controls are executed by touching (not pressing) the directional. Buttons A, B, Start, Select, etc, are the diagonals of the clickwheel and the select button. Roms, mpd and others are ZeroSlackr folder at the root of your iPod. This way is very simple to add roms emulators and music to mpd. I'll keep an eye on the project and put out when a new version.

The beta testers have used the first generation iPod nano, iPod 5g and 5.5g. I can not guarantee the operation of other models. If someone wants to venture, post here the result!
